Hasheem Thabeet down for a 'stint' in D-League

Well, I never anticipated kick-starting my contribution to this blog in a 'slightly' negative tone. Anyways, woke up this morning only to see Bongo blogs flooded with the news that Hasheem is headed to the D-League.

I personally wouldn't try to read too much into the reported move as I am nowhere near to the position to know The Grizzlies' purpose. I will just take this opportunity to wish the boy all the best!

On the other side, though, did we start celebrating prematurely that we have a Tanzanian in the NBA?

  1. The guy has a bright future in any case. He is 7 feet 3'' for crying out loud. He just has to stay focused and keep his eye onto what brought him to the NBA. Celebrity status can be overwhelming and one might find oneself loosing track.

I have nothing against the guy, but Paul said it best, aliingia kwenye ligi mapema, bila maandalizi. Alafu ukiangalia akina Bynum, yeye anakocha maalum wa kum-train. D-League sio kitu kibaya, but I know a few names that went to the D-League just to disappear and not heard about again, I hope thats not going to be the case with Hasheem. Nadhani he needs to stay focused, NBA is a whole new ball game its not college ball. Kila la kheri..

  4. ...boys and girls, the guy needs counselling to cope with the alleged downfall. I, like a few others thought there was so much hype and false realities about the guy jumping into NBA just after a few years of practice...the game requires both physical and mental preparedness...however, i do think this isn't the end of Hasheem Thabeet, it is an opportunity for the open but forgotten doors...come on guys, the brother is like 23 or so, pretty young, say he could go back to school? specialize on something else (what was his bachelor specialization again? somebody help), work towards the better of his community and leave a humane legacy...I presume he hadn't planned to ball in the NBA on his flight to the US, all he wanted was to just tap the much talked about American Dream...then, bang, a few million bucks flowed his way. This isn't the end, it's just a new beginning...tutafika tu, kama sio leo basi kesho...ila tuhangaike kama leo ndio kesho tunayotaraji...

  5. If Hasheem didn't know he was under a huuuuge microscope, he surely does now! Just checked the comments regarding this news @ espn, more than 350 comments; bad and ok ones.

I really hope he somehow goes back to NBA and prove us wrong.

Wazee, nilikuwa siijui hii D-League vizuri. Huko watu wanaganga njaa! I am sure the move will keep him grounded.
